Muscles “Sweaty”

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

Everybody is talking about Melbourne, Australia’s latest dance sensation, Muscles and his debut album “Guns, Babes, Lemonade.” The latest single from this Modular Records release is called “Sweaty” and is our favorite Muscles song to hear live. The lyrics are awesome and so is the video. Yeah, I know, there have been tons of Tokyo themed music videos coming out in the past few years but this one is pretty sweet. Watch it!

Kylie Minogue “2 Hearts”

Thursday, November 22nd, 2007

There has been some hating on the new Kylie single from the fans out there. BUT! The remixes are all really good. Alan Braxe even did one and I am trying my best to get my hands on it. Most of the other tracks on the album are well, kind of lame and S Club 7 (in a bad way). Go on her Myspace and listen to the sampler to see what I mean.

Sebastien Tellier Teams Up With Daft Punk

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Wow! This is sure to be the collaboration of the year. Sebastien Tellier’s new album “Sexuality” is produced by none other than his good friends and electro legends, Daft Punk. The first single off of the 2008 release is “Sexual Sportswear,” and is available for streaming on Sebastien’s Myspace page. It is definitely a lot more dancey than his usual stuff so I am quite anxious to hear the other track–they will undoubtedly be very interesting.

New Operator Please Video!!!

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

You probably already peeped this on Perez Hilton, but here is the new amazing video from my good friends Operator Please. I was at the video shoot and still have paint all over the shoes I was wearing that day. The kids just finished a USA mini-tour (NYC and LA only) on their way home to Australia from the UK, and I caught their AMAZING live show at Mercury Lounge. Be on the look out for my interview with the band in ‘Sup Magazine. I asked all the really TOUGH questions.

Jose Gonzalez Covers Massive Attack

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Jose Gonzalez has always had a way with covers (remember his version of “Heartbeats” by The Knife?!) which is why it’s no surprise that his recording of “Teardrop” by Massive Attack is freaking gold.
Watch the video here:

Meet Tiny Masters of Today

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

No, you are not seeing things- the image before you is of two young children in a rock band. One of the best new rock bands! Tiny Masters of Today are a brother and sister duo from Brooklyn, ages 11 and 13. They are signed to Mute Records (home of Jose Gonzalez and The Knife) and just released their debut album which features a cameo by Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I caught TMOT’s live show two nights ago and fell head over heels for the little munchkins, which featured a cover of “Jump Around” by Naughty by Nature!

Meet Cut Off Your Hands

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

With a following by such influential tastemakers as BBC Radio DJ Steve Lamacq and Kate Moss, Cut Off Your Hands is destined to be your new favorite band. The New Zealand rock outfit’s angular dance-rock is part Split Enz, part Gang of Four and is undeniably catchy and upbeat. They have already taken the UK and Australia by storm and are gearing up for a big USA invasion, which includes several appearances at this weeks CMJ Music Marathon in NYC. I am a huge fan of their recordings and will be checking them out this afternoon. After hearing such tremendous buzz about their live show, I’m sure it will be nothing short of amazing.

A Sophomore Gem From Band of Horses

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Critics are raving about the new Band of Horses album, Cease to Begin and I couldn’t agree with them more. A lot of pressure was put on this outfit out of South Carolina to deliver a stellar sophomore album and they didn’t let anyone down. Cease to Begin is filled with the band’s trademark majestic and dreamy guitar chords and lush sounds. Buy it now!
