Great New French Band Alert- The Shoppings

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

The Shoppings are a new French pop duo who only write songs about fashion. “Comme Terry”, which is a tribute to fashion photographer Terry Richardson is probably the most hilarious. Although the songs of The Shoppings do center around one topic, they refuse to be classified as a novelty act. The band will not play any fashion-related events and insist that they are a rock band first, fashion addicts second. Listen to them on myspace!

Crazy New Liars Video!

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

Wow. And just when you thought the Liars couldn’t get any weirder…
Although I am still more of a fan of classic Liars, this will do. Watch this for a truly dark and bizarre experience:

Jamie T- The Male Lily Allen

Friday, July 13th, 2007

As Lily Allen mania hits the USA, I am left asking one question: when is Jamie T going to get his turn? Like Allen, Jamie is a Brit singer songwriter who creates reggae-infused pop and curses like a sailor. England loves him, so why can’t we? Don’t get me wrong, he did get a song on Entourage and gets some coverage in the indie music press but when will he get a sold out tour and a Saturday Night Live Appearance? Jamie, I am waiting!!

The Chemical Brothers- We Are The Night

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

We Are The Night, the new album by UK electronic legends The Chemical Brothers, does not disappoint. By sticking with their tried and true formula of loading up on special guests, they have created another solid album. The artists making appearances this time around include Fat Lip from The Pharcyde, The Klaxons, Midlake, and Willy Mason who are all amazing in their own right and combined with the beats of the Chems, provide us with some pretty interesting tracks. The content of this album is just as diverse as the guest artists performing on it which allows The Chemical Brothers to hold their title as one of the most interesting and inventive electronic artists to date.

Dappled Cities Take Over USA

Friday, July 6th, 2007

One of the most original and endearing bands to hit the rock scene are Sydney’s Dappled Cities (formerly known as Dappled Cities Fly) and they are about to embark on the first proper US tour. They’ve popped in and out for big festivals like CMJ and SXSW but have never treated us to more than a couple of shows here and there. This is all about to change next Friday when Dappled move to New York City for six months and start a whirlwind tour with the likes of Tokyo Police Club and the Fratellis. If you like The Shins and The Flaming Lips, you will surely love Dappled. Make sure to check out one of their amazing live performances while you can!
