VHS or Beta- Bring on The Comets
Sunday, August 26th, 2007
The highly anticipated new album from VHS or Beta will finally be hitting the shelves this month. “Bring On The Comets” is crammed full of songs that are sure to ignite the dancefloor. My definite favorite is “Can’t Believe a Single Word” which so undeniably catchy that I have not been able to get it out of my head for days. If you aren’t familiar with the new wave dance rock sounds of VHS or Beta, go to their Myspace NOW.

Sebastien Tellier in “Pink Cowboy Boots”
Sunday, August 26th, 2007“Pink Cowboy Boots” is a lovely French student film in which a shy girl who works at a radio station pursues her crush, played by Robin Coudert, keyboardist for AIR and Phoenix. At one point, eccentric indie sensation Sebastien Tellier makes an appearance to give love advice. Although the film is entirely in French, it is very easy to understand if you don’t speak the language. It is definitely work a look if you are a fan of any of the above-mentioned artists.
The Virgins
Sunday, August 26th, 2007The newest New York City fashion band are The Virgins, who will soon be putting out a record on Atlantic. Their reggae-infused angular pop sounds like something the Strokes would come up with after a trip to Jamaica. I recently saw them play in Brooklyn and was pleasantly surprised by their live show. Check out a video from one of their rehearsals here:

The Go! Team Is Back! Back To Attack
Thursday, August 23rd, 2007I’ve missed The Go! Team, and a brief cameo from Ninja on a Simian Mobile Disco track just wasn’t enough to hold me over. Check out this preview of the new album:

Zach Galifianakis
Surely someone has emailed you this awesome (yet truly strange) alternate Kanye West video for “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” starring the hilarious Zach Galifianakis and Will Oldham. This internet craze features Galifianakis and Oldham as farmers lipsynching Kanye’s lyrics. Sound too bizarre to be true? See it for yourself!

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007Jamie T- The Male Lily Allen
Friday, July 13th, 2007
As Lily Allen mania hits the USA, I am left asking one question: when is Jamie T going to get his turn? Like Allen, Jamie is a Brit singer songwriter who creates reggae-infused pop and curses like a sailor. England loves him, so why can’t we? Don’t get me wrong, he did get a song on Entourage and gets some coverage in the indie music press but when will he get a sold out tour and a Saturday Night Live Appearance? Jamie, I am waiting!!

The Chemical Brothers- We Are The Night
Wednesday, July 11th, 2007
We Are The Night, the new album by UK electronic legends The Chemical Brothers, does not disappoint. By sticking with their tried and true formula of loading up on special guests, they have created another solid album. The artists making appearances this time around include Fat Lip from The Pharcyde, The Klaxons, Midlake, and Willy Mason who are all amazing in their own right and combined with the beats of the Chems, provide us with some pretty interesting tracks. The content of this album is just as diverse as the guest artists performing on it which allows The Chemical Brothers to hold their title as one of the most interesting and inventive electronic artists to date.
